About the role

The Regional Sales Manager is the face of GCI and is responsible for generating sales of precast concrete and concrete pipe manufacturing equipment.


As Regional Sales Manager you will meet or exceed annual sales goals while managing sales related expenses to ensure appropriate return on investment. You will accomplish this through a variety of communication methods including phone calls, email and face to face visits as you travel throughout your assigned territory promoting GCI’s products and services to producers of precast concrete products and concrete pipe.


In this role you will:

  • Handle customer inquiries and internal communication using a variety of methods in a professional, respectful, courteous, and timely manner
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients establishing GCI as a key partner while expanding the client base by identifying and pursuing new opportunities
  • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled sales visits by managing all logistical aspects including travel, lodging, and personnel schedules within allotted budget
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and provide timely and accurate information ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Educate clients on the features and benefits of our products and service and generate price quotations in a timely manner ensuring all technical data is accurate and comprehensive
  • Provide prompt follow-up regarding quotations and obtain competitive information regarding pricing and lead times being offered in region
  • Negotiate and close sales against issued quotations
  • Collect and submit all details required for setting up orders including purchase orders, approved drawings and delivery information
  • Monitor the progress and status of orders from the point of sale, through the production process and delivery working to remove obstacles which may cause a project to fall behind schedule
  • Manage customer expectations related to GCI’s quote process, order terms, submittal process, lead times, production process, shipping process, and payment terms
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, including client interactions and transactions utilizing GCI’s CRM application
  • Utilize self-led research and GCI product training to strengthen product knowledge and maintain an in-depth understanding of our products and services
  • Develop detailed knowledge of GCI’s competitors and the products they offer, obtain market intelligence regarding customer preferences, track competitive activity, and report on emerging trends
  • Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts to management
  • Professionally represent GCI at industry trade shows and events


Your typical day may include

  • Answering inbound phone calls and responding to inbound inquiries received via text message, emails or website forms from customers looking for product quotes, purchases, or other information
  • Traveling throughout your assigned territory participating in self-scheduled meetings, or making cold-calls focused on promotion and sales GCI’s products and services to potential customers
  • Evaluating customer needs by conducting assessments to determine project requirements and gathering pertinent information including details, specifications, timelines and budgets
  • Reviewing information received from potential customers to confirm alignment with GCI’s products and services and ensure GCI can meet or exceed expectations regarding quality, service and lead times
  • Working with the Director of Sales to review requirements, establish pricing and provide quotations to customers
  • Engaging in proactive communication and follow-through to foster strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction maximizing potential for repeat business
  • Monitoring order processing completed by Inside Sales / Project Manager, Logistics Manager and Operations team
  • Relaying important order information, production schedule and shipping details to customers
  • Maintaining up-to-date and detailed customer information, communication records and sales activity records utilizing GCI’s CRM software
  • Submitting weekly and monthly reports to the Director as required


Qualifications 

To be successful in this role you must be passionate about exceeding our customer needs and be comfortable working with a variety of people on GCI’s sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing teams to help our company grow.


You should be proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn, and you must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks with varying priorities without sacrificing your attention to detail.


You should possess the ability to work both independently and as a team with minimal supervision and a high level of professionalism focused on creating loyalty by identifying and understanding customers’ needs, managing their expectations, and exceeding expectations.


Required qualifications

  • 5 years sales experience in precast concrete or related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree or additional comparable experience in related industry
  • High School diploma
  • Reside in major market of outlined territory and close to major airport
  • Possess valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel 50% - 60% annually utilizing most efficient method possible
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail


Preferred qualifications

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in the precast concrete or concrete pipe industry
  • Knowledge of precast product and concrete pipe manufacturing process
  • Knowledge of the territory and the precast concrete / concrete pipe manufacturers operating within it
  • Understanding of the needs and challenges of precast concrete / concrete pipe producers and the key drivers within the precast concrete industry
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to professionally communicate with a diverse group of people in a wide variety of positions and situations
  • The ability to understand and utilize a large volume of product information and apply expertise to address customer inquiries and close sales
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and interpret technical writing

  • Basic financial and market analysis skills
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms including Zoho
