GCR is hiring for a General Maintenance Worker.
Job Summary:
- Assist with performing general repairs, maintenance, preventive maintenance, warranty maintenance, servicing, and modification of equipment, systems and facilities.
- Able to effective employ general practical skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Job Duties:
- Replace electrical receptacles, bulbs, wires, switches, fixtures, fuses, etc. (Assist Electrician).
- Plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls, ceilings and floors.
- Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets and perform other basic plumbing needs as required.
- Paint structures, equipment, doors, windows, etc.
- Repair concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks; replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles
- Hang doors, install door locks, correct basic door lock issues and door opening/closing issues including closures and lock alignment.
- Replace broken window panes, door glass, etc. as required.
- Perform basic HVAC duties such as filter changes, cleaning of air handlers and air conditioning units, clearing water and drain line clogs, etc.
- Perform general maintenance on equipment, machinery and facility.
- Organize all work assigned and complete accurately and on-time all work tickets and required paperwork.
- Present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers, co-workers and supervision.
- Identify additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Provide physical support as needed and directed for the various tradesmen in the company and assisting subcontractors as assigned.
- Various outside activities to include keeping walks clean, snow and ice removal as required, graffiti removal, power washing, replacing exterior lights not to exceed 10 ft., minor grounds repair and/or upkeep, etc.
- Basic housekeeping duties as needed to include emptying of trash containers (inside and outside); sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning of drains, disposal of trash and recyclables to proper location, etc.
- Organize all work assigned and complete accurately and on-time all work tickets and required paperwork.
- Maintain effective communication with Project Management/Supervision/Employees and customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Mandatory:
- Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience within the past five (5) years in general construction, facility maintenance or as a building trades’ helper with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Possess a valid State driver’s license issued and have reliable transportation.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
- Not be color-blind.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.
- Successfully pass and maintain a National Agency /Security Background Check.
- Basic computer skills, to include the ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel.
- Be physically cable of performing the physical requirements of the position on a daily basis. (Frequent periods of standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, climbing and balancing. Being able to ascend and descend stairs unassisted on a frequent basis. Be able to ascend and descend ladders and perform elevated surface and roof work. Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Able to work a non-traditional work week, to include evenings, weekends and/or Holidays as work demands dictate and/or directed by the Project Manager.
