- Job Summary : The Engineering Failure analysis Lab Is seeking an experienced FA lab technician to help in failure analysis of PCB assemblies and similar electrical components. The FA Lab Technician is responsible for conducting detailed investigations on failed components or products, utilizing specialized equipment and techniques to identify the root cause of malfunctions, by performing tasks like sample preparation, operating analytical tools like SEM or FIB, data collection, and generating comprehensive reports to support corrective actions by identifying and addressing manufacturing defects or design flaws. This position assumes the candidate is also responsible for keeping the Failure Analysis lab in good order with organization and safety in mind.This Failure Analysis Lab technician will interface with all Process engineers and will report directly to the FA Engineering manager and may have to provide support to engineers in other departments. This position is strategic to help the Engineering team determine Root Cause quickly and efficiently.You are responsible for : Prepping specimens for cross sectional analysis. Perform cross sections of test specimens. Identify the root cause of malfunctions Assist Engineering in setting up and executing Designs of Experiments (DOE). Assist Engineering with Material Characterizations. Operate Equipment utilized by the Failure Analysis Lab. Cross sectional polishers, SEM, microscopes, X-ray, Rheology, DSC. Able to understand schematics, use schematic and PCB layout viewers to locate components and Solder joint locations. Plan, organize and maintain the Lab facilities for optimal efficiency. Create new processes when necessary. Manage time effectively across multiple demanding deadlines. Be able to work across teams to get things done. Have good communication and report writing skills. Be familiar with Excel, Word.To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience : Minimum 5 years experience in similar Engineering lab environments with proven records of high-quality analytical skill. Ability to complete tasks on time, to work independently with minimum supervision. Great sense of organization. Good written and verbal skills. Familiar with Office tool suite (Excel spreadsheet and Word).
