Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for reviewing and interpreting customer requirements, both technical and programmatic, and assessing the level of effort required to fulfill them from an electronics perspective.
This position contributes to sales proposal efforts, prototype development, and other New Product Introduction (NPI) activities leading to the transition of new products into production.
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of projects utilizing embedded electronic controls for client electromechanical devices: actuators and brushless DC motors in the aerospace and defense markets.
This requires a solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, high-speed digital interfaces, FPGAs, DSPs, microcontrollers, DACs/ADCs, electric motor control theory, embedded software/firmware, system controls, and overall system mathematical modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electronic architectures and implement specific designs for control of Kearfott components and systems
- Understand manufacturing and overall design trade-offs
- Develop and validate system performance models and predictions
- Participate in cross-functional project teams including software engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, program managers, technicians, and sales/customer support staff
Business Development Support:
- Travel to support market development and customer needs
- Support electronics cost proposal activity
- Foster relationships with customers' engineering teams
Requirements:
- Critical competencies in electronics design, hardware/software integration, and system electromechanical integration
- Industry standards experience such as DO-254, DO-178C, MIL-STD-882E
- Knowledge of relevant DO-160, MIL-STD-461, IPC, and IEC standards
- Efficiently execute design and/or proposal analyses using Altium, Matlab, Mathcad, and Pspice
- Electronic components and test equipment expertise
- Systems engineering skills
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Printed circuit board layout, manufacturing, and assembly processes
- Electromagnetic interference and susceptibility design methods
- Customer-centric attitude and excellent communication skills
Experience Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; M.S. preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in digital motion controls and power electronic design
- Experience in DC and AC motors, rotary and linear power transmission components, and various position feedback devices
- DSP/FPGA based servo systems experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US and able to work on U.S. government programs or obtain security clearance in the future
