Position Overview
- The Project Accountant at GCS-SIGAL will play a vital role on our accounting team. Typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage monthly requisition process, including working with project team to complete requisitions, reviewing for accuracy, and entering requisition details into Viewpoint accounting software
- Enter payments received against project receivables and prepare subcontractor open AP report to send to project team for approval/edit
- Confirm subcontractor compliances are acceptable before approving for payment to AP (insurance, signed contracts, appropriate waivers, etc.)
- Confirm project management compliance (final payment checklist, etc.) before a final payment is issued to subcontractor
- Liaise with project team to ensure all vendor and subcontractor invoices are approved for month end close. Prepare cost accruals for remaining unapproved invoices for Controller review
- Produce cost detail and other ad-hoc reports from accounting software for project teams
- Put together monthly cash flow report after month end close and monitor project KPI’s
- Participate in quarterly project review meetings and provide insight from accounting perspective
- Maintain project records needed for year-end audit and provide as requested
- General accounting responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Follow all accounting principles and controls related to construction job cost accounting
- Conform to and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
- Creatively solve challenges that arise with a positive attitude
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, calculators, and telephones.
- Visual acuity to read and analyze financial data and documents.
- Hearing ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in person and over the phone.
- Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cost accounting within Construction (or related) industry
- BS degree in Accounting/Finance, or a related field
- Excel at teamwork and at Excel
- Be able to effectively communicate in person, on the phone, and via email
- Proven ability to multi-task in deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records
- Proficient with or ability to learn ViewPoint or similar accounting software
