What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media and Marketing Coordinator position at GCU?
Scope:
This position is to expand our existing social media programs and drive marketing campaigns for GCU’s annuity and life insurance products while supporting the organization’s local volunteer & activity coordinators, sales agents, and member benefit programs. Responsibilities involve working closely with cross-functional teams (Company President, Board of Directors, Sales Director, and Fraternal-Communications Director) to strategically plan, execute, and measure social and electronic media initiatives that engage our members of all ages. Familiarity with marketing in a regulated financial or insurance environment is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Expand on the GCU’s current social media presence.
- Develop targeted marketing strategies to promote GCU (with emphasis on member benefits, annuities, and life insurance) to agents, members, and potential members.
- Promote the organization’s charitable, benevolent, educational, cultural and social programs.
- Oversee and maintain the company Website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and develop a presence on new social media platforms that may become available.
- Assist with support of local constellation volunteer and social activities.
- Assist in advertising of cooperative activities including Byzantine Catholic Family Days, Saint Nicholas Charity Dinner, Helping Hands Day and similar programs.
- Complete special assignments as directed.
- Assist with community outreach programs such as Special Olympics, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Salvation Army, Food for Schools and similar outreach programs.
- Plan, organize and handle the Social Media Communications, and Public Relations aspects of GCU.
- Prepare email, print and mail campaigns from creative/editorial concept to delivery of final product to attract new agents and members.
- Assist with developing electronic and print communications for constellation coordinators, sales agents and the general membership.
- Assist Seven Oaks Country Club staff with their social media activities.
Qualifications:

The ability to speak in front of a group and exhibit a high level of organizational skills is essential.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree Public Relations/Communications or Business Marketing. Three (3) years of experience of online marketing and/or design and implementation of social media campaigns.
Language Skills
Must possess and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to take a communicated idea to the desired outcome.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to create and manage a budget for a specific campaign and to show accounting for expenses to a specific campaign.
Computer Skills
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Mail Chimp (or similar emailing tool) at a minimum, Google Analytics and some Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign preferred. Must be able to execute all email functions including sending, receiving, and opening attachments. The ability to interact effectively with all forms of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube.
