Position Overview : The Sunday Catholic Service Music Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading musical elements for Sunday Catholic worship services and associated special events. This includes directing the choir, managing rehearsals, and collaborating with the Catholic Service Chaplain to ensure all musical selections align with liturgical standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Service Leadership :
Provide musical leadership for weekly Sunday Catholic worship services (60-75 minutes per service).
- Arrive at least 60 minutes before each service for rehearsal and final coordination with the officiating chaplain.
- Lead worship and congregational singing, including opening and closing hymns.
Rehearsals :
Conduct weekly choir rehearsals (60-75 minutes per rehearsal).
Special Services :
Provide music for special services, including Christmas, Easter, Holy Week, funerals, and memorial services, with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Program Development :
Actively recruit and train volunteer musicians to support a robust music program.
Administrative Duties :
Submit weekly music selections to the chaplain by 4 : 00 PM each Friday.
Compliance :
Adhere to chapel operating instructions and security protocols for facility use.
Professional Development :
Attend worship clinics and professional conferences as necessary to enhance skills and knowledge.
