Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Speech-Language Therapist to provide speech pathology services at St. Stephens Indian School. The therapist will assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language disorders for students, collaborate with teachers and families, and participate in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support students' communication needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students' speech and language skills (articulation, fluency, voice) and identify deficits.
  • Develop and implement therapy plans based on assessments and IEP goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team and IEP meetings to discuss student progress and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and provide regular progress updates.
  • Provide training and resources to teachers and families for carryover strategies.
  • Screen students and ensure assessment practices follow non-discriminatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • License : Current, active, full, and unrestricted Speech-Language Therapist license from any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.
  • Education : Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in a school setting, including IEP development and compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Security Clearance : Must pass a background investigation.
  • Training : Completion of all Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) required training.
  • Work Schedule

  • 4 days a week, 7 hours per day, for 16 weeks per school year.
  • Service to be provided onsite at St. Stephens Indian School.
  • Deliverables

  • Daily documentation of student files.
  • Monthly assessment reports and IEP goals.
  • Quarterly student progress reports.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current intervention and treatment techniques for speech and language deficits.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
