We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Proposal Writer to join our innovative architecture and engineering (A/E) services firm. This individual will play a critical role in developing compelling, high-quality proposals that showcase our solutions to federal government clients and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing, research, and editing skills, and must be adept at using Adobe InDesign and other proposal creation tools. Collaboration with internal teams to strategize and craft winning proposals is key to this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proposal Development: Craft persuasive and technically sound proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and other client inquiries.
- Client and Industry Research: Conduct thorough research to understand client needs, industry requirements, and competitive positioning to tailor proposals accordingly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, and leadership to collect required information and insights for proposal content.
- Editing and Quality Assurance: Edit and proofread proposal documents to ensure clarity, precision, and compliance with company branding and federal standards.
- Graphic Design Integration: Utilize Adobe InDesign to design visually appealing, professionally formatted, and compliant proposals.
- Diagram and Visual Content Creation: Use software like Microsoft Visio to produce flowcharts, diagrams, and other visuals for inclusion in proposals.
- Library and Template Management: Maintain a centralized library of proposal templates, past submissions, and supporting documents for consistent and efficient proposal development.
- Internal Communication: Foster alignment across departments by keeping internal teams informed of proposal timelines, strategies, and client requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure all proposal submissions are in compliance with federal government procurement rules, regulations, and formatting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Certification as an Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Certified Proposal Writer Professional or similar is preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in technical writing or proposal development, particularly for A/E services and federal government clients.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to complex proposal structures and compliance requirements.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign for proposal design and formatting.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Microsoft Visio.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas concisely.
- Strong research skills to gather and synthesize relevant data efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to proofread and edit for grammar, formatting, and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional Knowledge:
- Familiarity with federal government procurement processes, FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), and industry best practices for A/E services proposals.
- Knowledge of project management concepts and tools is a plus.
