Job Description Summary

The Lead Process Engineer performs engineering associated duties within the manufacturing process. In this role, you will make a lasting impact on the operations of the plant by enabling manufacturing uptime, cost reduction, and increased product quality. Your contributions will range from direct manufacturing support to new production introduction and new process development.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing process ownership within an assigned production area(s)
  • Provide technical direction and lead a team of process engineers to design, develop implement, control, maintain, and optimize manufacturing methods and technical documentation
  • Drive efforts to support and meet production schedules, including productivity, quality and Six Sigma initiatives
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Confer with product design engineers concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
  • Provide tooling and equipment support for production area(s)
  • Confer with manufacturing associates, management, engineering, and other support staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Take responsibility for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes including safety, quality, Lean and six-sigma development in assigned areas
  • Utilize lean principles and participate in action workouts to improve product cost, throughput and quality
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
  • Display a dedicated, team-oriented work ethic with personal ownership while having a goal-focused mindset
  • Have flexibility in hours/shift of work; ability to flex schedule for training and/or shop coverage needs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of process or similar manufacturing-related engineering experience

Desired Characteristics

  • At least 5 years process or similar manufacturing-related engineering experience
  • Advanced experience with CNC (EDM drill/sinker process, Laser Ablation processes) including CNC technician setup experience
  • Prior process/manufacturing knowledge of Airfoils and Aviation High Pressure Turbine blade manufacturing
  • Hands-on shop floor experience with experience providing technical direction
  • Experience with practical analytical problem-solving
  • Experience working both independently and as a leading productive member of a cross-functional team
  • Experience setting varying priorities, taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and handling competing demands of the manufacturing environment quickly and efficiently
  • Experience working with a high sense of urgency, responsiveness and be customer-service orientated
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
