Material Planner - 1st Shift

How You'll Create Possibilities
Production Support
- Ensure availability of parts to meet daily production needs.
- Manage material flow from suppliers to meet production schedules.
- Prioritize deliveries, coordinate receiving docks, and resolve shortages.
- Communicate cross-functionally to address operational challenges.
- Partner with the quality team to ensure proper inventory coverage when parts are rejected.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory with system records.
- Optimize inventory levels by managing safety stock, lead times, and supplier parameters.
- Drive improvements in material availability, transportation planning, and supplier response times.
- Implement strategies to reduce inventory costs and improve efficiency.
- Oversee supplier transitions and manage part build-out and wind-down processes.
- Lead rework events and determine the best course of action for part adjustments.
- Facilitate new product introductions by setting up supplier timelines and safety stock levels.
- Participate in safety audits and projects.
- Contribute to special initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing costs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (IE, ME, or EE), Business Administration, OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in materials planning, material controls, or related fields.
- Proven systems capabilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Six Sigma certification or experience with process improvement methodologies.
- Experience in unionized manufacturing environments and supplier management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Access Databases, or Excel.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
