Job Description Summary
This is a newly created role intended to accelerate the new product introduction rate of repair industrialisation and insourcing of aircraft engine components at GE Aviation Strother. The successful candidate will work with key stakeholders that are both on-site and remote to deliver on the component insourcing and repair industrialisation plan. The NPI Engineer will be responsible for technical project planning and execution that results in growth of the site's component repair capability portfolio.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Full technical management of the NPI of component repair procedures, including insourcing of components and accessories from external vendors.
- Engaging with site and HQ leadership to contribute towards defining the site repair industrialisation and insourcing roadmap.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Aircraft Engineers, Special Process Owners, Tooling Design Engineers, Operations, Planning, Quality and EH&S on the i ndustrialization of new component repairs to ensure all deliverables are achieved on time with fulfilment of all CTQ's.
- Engaging with other GE and Joint Venture MRO shops for 2-way leveraging of technical information and best practices to support GE Aviation's network-wide transition of work strategy.
- Leading multi-discipline technical reviews of component repair procedures that result in actions, which need to be tracked and managed through to project completion.
- Compilation of technical plans for the i ndustrialization of licenced and unlicenced component repair procedures
- Coordination of component repair trials using unserviceable components in a production environment in order to validate process capability
- Engaging with remotely located Component Repair Engineers, Design Engineers and Materials Engineers, across different time zones, to review and approve license submissions for source-controlled repair procedures.
- Re-defining the site Component Repair NPI process to introduce standard work and greater process rigour through generation of control documents such as standard operating procedures
