Job Description Summary
The product decarbonization manager is responsible for supporting GE Aerospace's evolving obligations in climate change mitigation and reporting, including on the company's climate transition plan. The successful candidate will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product climate related topics, focusing on Scope 3 emissions and climate related matters. As an expert in the field, the Manager will support the efforts to implement effective GHG inventory management plans, as well as Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) assessments, ensuring alignment with global standards and certifications.
This cross-functional role interfaces with multiple GE Aerospace organizations and levels and blends sustainability activities with technical acumen, problem solving skills, and a broad view of the business and aviation industry.
The successful candidate is expected to interact with major external stakeholders and represent GE Aerospace in task groups that are working to address issues related to technical climate disclosures, carbon accounting, lifecycle analysis and GHG reduction claims.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategy leader responsible for creating and leading Scope 3 categories and reporting across all GE Aerospace functions and products.
- Lead development and execution of FLIGHT DECK standard work for Scope 3 categories including data collection, data analyses, calculation methodologies, and successful completion of internal and third-party audits.
- Lead operating rhythms to review external Scope 3 and GHG Protocol methodology updates, emerging regulations, industry standards, and best practices, and define / lead execution of appropriate response strategies
- Represent GE Aerospace in external forums including the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG), Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), and Aerospace Industries Association (AIA)
- Lead competitive intelligence efforts to benchmark Scope 3 metrics reported by other defense and aerospace companies
- Remain up to date on emerging policy and regulatory drivers of emissions disclosures (SBTi guidance, SEC reporting, EU CSRD, etc.)
- Partner with Government Relations colleagues to identify and address broader business intersections with emerging regulatory challenges in the sustainability space (e.g. EU Taxonomy Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive)
- Contribute to and lead development of key content for GE Aerospace's Annual Sustainability Report, CDP report, and other sustainability related disclosures
- Support broader Sustainability Team activities on cross disciplinary projects and data requests including building a circularity program in GE Aerospace including partnering with key internal stakeholders to develop and operationalize standardized processed for product / lifecycle assessment data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Partner with the broader GE Aerospace Carbon Solutions & Sustainability Team to develop and execute strategy elements required to establish GE Aerospace as a leader in the sustainability space
