Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead a global engineering team that designs new technologies, new products, validates products, assesses products for new applications, supports requisitions, and develops solutions for fleet issue resolution
- Ensure design releases result in high product quality that meets availability, reliability, and performance targets
- Influence and execute business priorities utilizing LEAN tools to drive strong operational rigor
- Manage priorities of team members and utilize network and organizational knowledge to remove roadblocks as necessary.
- Promote a team culture that focuses on gearbox integration and performance prediction using appropriate analytical methods.
- Technically underwrite the gearbox system design and validation plans.
- Partner with the sourcing commodity and quality leaders to co-lead the gearbox component team to set product reliability expectations.
- Create a culture within the team that promotes product safety, psychological safety, collaboration, proactive engagement, accountability, and self-reflective growth.
- Set clear expectations for the team and hold team accountable to complete commitments on time in prioritization order of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Work with the systems and controls team to set expectations on product requirements and flow down.
- Work with cross functional leaders to down select technology choices.
- Partner with the materials team to set clear product requirements to meet reliability targets. Design and execute a team strategy that results in a high-performing team by hiring new talent, increasing the skills and capabilities of engineers, and managing poor performance in a timely manner.
- Collaborate without boundaries with a breadth of cross-functional teams to influence decisions and achieve customer-focused outcomes and minimize rework and workload creation in the organization.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with strategic suppliers to create transparency & collaboration opportunities .
- Present complex ideas in an easy-to-understand manner to internal senior leaders and external customers
