Consulting Services at GE Vernova is a team that has comprehensive, global experience in power system studies and in-depth experience analyzing shunt and series compensation, SVCs, FACTS, HVDC, synchronous condensers, and power plant and transmission system dynamic controls. Our global team has more than 500 person-years of professional experience with leading power system analysis software tools like Positive Sequence Load Flow (PSLF

  • software and Multi-Area Production Simulation (MAPS
  • software, as well as Siemens PSS
  • E, DigSILENT PowerFactory, Aspen, ETAP
  • PSCAD, EMTP, other commercial applications, and many specialized in-house tools. Our team also has deep experience with voltage control and reactive planning issues as well as the tools and procedures that are most effective in studying them. We perform detailed steady state, voltage and transient stability studies of regional transmission systems, generation interconnections, and renewable generation impacts, as well as specialized studies of sub-synchronous resonance and torsional interaction.

Role Summary / Purpose

As a member of the Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability – Renewable Energy team, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives and FACTS.

Supportcustomerswithpowersystemsengineeringexpertise;includingmodeling,analysis,equipmentdesign and specification,andfailuremodeanalysis

Create,modifyandparametrizesimulationmodelsrepresentingGEproductslike wind turbines,solarinverters,batterystorage

Evaluategridcodecompliance and impact of renewableprojects in bulkpowersystems

Supportcontinuousdevelopment of transmissionanddistributionproductsassociatedtoinverter-basedresources(Wind,solar and storage)forevolvingcodesandstandardsthroughparticipation in industrystandardsgroups and leadinginnovativeapproachestopowersystemanalysis

Performpowersystemtransientstudies,anddetailedequipmentmodelingusingappropriatesoftwaretools

Effectivelycommunicateresults to bothinternal and externalcustomers by preparingdetailedwrittenreportsorpresentationsdescribinganalysesperformed,solutionsdeveloped, and customervaluepropositions

Enhanceindustryknowledgeandpresenttechnicalcontentinregionalforumsandconferences;serveas a thoughtleader in industryactivities

Activelyparticipate in a workingenvironmentwhereteamwork,quality,customerservice and innovationareprized

Qualifications / Requirements

Master’sDegreeinelectricalengineering or electricpowerengineering

Minimum 2 years of IndustryexperienceperformingtransientanalysisusingsimulationtoolslikeATP / EMTP,PSCAD / EMTDCandEMTP-RV and / Or steadystateanddynamicanalysisusinglargedatabasesimulationtoolslikePSS / E,PowerFactory,PSLF

Minimum 1 year of Experiencewiththeuseandapplication of commonprogramminglanguages(e.g.Python,FORTRAN, C, C MATLAB)

    If contracted in the U.S :

    The salary range for this position is 98,400- 131,20.00 - 164,000.00 USD annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 10% variable incentive compensation.
