This is an exciting new role within the System Technology and Adaptive Intelligence (STAI) team in Gas Power Engineering (GPE), who's organizational vision is to create "An artificial-intelligence-enhanced electric power & CO2 focused innovation team that supports and incubates new ventures and ideas through diligent engineering to provide cleaner, more flexible power to the world," and we are looking for a dynamic leader to help us achieve this vision, focusing on our team that brings Gas Power products from conceptual design to new product introduction.
The person in the Sr. Engineering Manager, Advanced Plant Systems Design role will lead a global conceptual design and technical competitive assessment team and be responsible for creating the next generation of competitive Gas Power products working closely with Product Management to define competitive product requirements, design product concepts and transition the results into New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. The Advanced Plant Systems Design team will be responsible for advanced plant level systems pre-NPI conceptual design including gas turbine and accessories, steam turbine, HRSG, generator and traditional plant systems. The team will work closely with subject matter experts across the engineering organization to develop and deploy advanced system modeling to relentlessly build new product cost and performance modeling capabilities to deliver high quality product concept assessments. This role requires access to US Export Controlled information.

The base pay range for this position is 131,700.00 - 219,300.00 USD Annual . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% bonus.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and stakeholders to define and create competitive plant and gas turbine solutions for future investment. Demonstrate a high "say-do" ratio and deliver on-time and technically excellent concept trade studies and competitor assessments. Foster effective communication and simplify complex problems into understandable messages.
- Own and manage the existing NTI advanced systems program budget and monthly operational reviews.
- Own and manage new program proposals through the Session T and S2 planning process.
- Champion Innovation through the identification of new design concepts and pursuit of emergent technologies.
- Champion Gas Power aligned external program concept papers and technology proposals for third-party funding.
- Oversee daily work assignments and drive a LEAN mindset to manage workloads and mitigate project delays. Ensure employees receive the training, support and guidance needed to continuously increase their responsibilities, technical contributions and growth. Own team performance evaluations, as well as salary planning/adjustments and promotions. Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback and coaching.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with least 8 years of relevant plant systems or gas turbine technical product design and development experience.
- Demonstrated systems integration or equivalent relevant experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing across partner organizations.
- Self-starting and personal drive and creative ability to make decisions and produce results with imperfectly defined requirements.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally to define product requirements, creating, executing and managing programs and familiarity with Gas Power Engineering program operations.
- Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to take complex technical proposals and translate them into simple, easily understood messages.

Desired Characteristics
- Strong background in systems modeling methods and complex design space analysis.
- Strong background in one or more relevant fundamental sciences such as fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, aerodynamics, combustion, thermodynamics, heat transfer.
