Roles and Responsibilities
- The Performance Lead Engineer will support the definition, development, and testing, of XA100 and other Next Generation engines.
- Responsibilities include integrating with various design groups and customers to support the development and prediction of the performance capability of the engines.
- Near term activities will focus on bringing the XA100 design through key design milestones as well as supporting key engine design work and follow-on program activities.
Activities Include
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned cycle model responsibilities in NPSS while working collaboratively with Systems, Operability, Aero, Heat Transfer, Controls, and Hardware disciplines
- Lead thermodynamic cycle development, analysis, and trade studies using NPSS - provide model ownership of assigned elements
- Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
- Organize assigned tasks and provide leadership within the cross-functional teams and drive to achieve objectives
- Provide options to solve performance issues encountered
- Prepare material in support of the program, present in technical program reviews using clear and concise methods
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Support test planning and coverage
- Lead analysis of test data using NPSS data reduction models
- Establish and grow working relationships with internal and/or external interfaces
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college.
- At least 3 years' experience in a Performance Engineering or relevant position.
- Ability to maintain or obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
Desired Characteristics
- Current US Government Security Clearance
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Experience with system level thermodynamic modeling and / or data analysis activities
- Demonstrated humility, transparency, and authenticity in the execution of engineering tasks
- High-level of proficiency and knowledge of NPSS & CAMEO modeling software and data plotting tools (Python, Matlab, etc)
- Working knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamics
- Strong oral and written communication skills
