What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Geary Pacific Corporation?
Great opportunity to work in the HVAC distribution business as Assistant Controller / CFO in a positive team environment with an established company of 64 years with 33 locations throughout eight Western States. This position is based at our Headquarters in Anaheim, CA.
Position Overview:
You will be responsible for the development and administration of company finance and accounting functions to include all accounting, budget, credit, insurance, and tax issues. Maintain monthly and annual reports and budgets, including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain financial credibility throughout the organization, with the Board of Directors, and company financial partners.
- Identify, communicate, and report on key performance measures for accounting, H/R, A/R, A/P, inventory, and customer service.
- Monthly financial reporting, not later than the 10th of the following month.
- Achieving company financial objectives.
- Cash flow tracking to optimize the companys cash/ borrowing position.
- Responsible for 100% inventory accuracy, 100% cycle count compliance, and inventory audits of at least 50% of the companys locations Annually.
- Maintain adequate records and internal controls to safeguard companys assets.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations including payroll taxes, sales taxes, income taxes, corporate registrations & licenses, and tax returns.
- Education of Leadership team on financial issues impacting their area of responsibility.
- Assist in administration of the financial aspects of the companys insurance, 401K plan, profit sharing as well as other benefit and compensation programs the company may have.
- Act as advisor to the CEO with regard to strategic financial management and ROI opportunities.

- Must have detail level understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory receiving, transfers, invoicing, and all customer credit processes.
- Must possess interpersonal and communication skills necessary to lead others and deal effectively with a diverse group of external customers and internal contacts at all levels of the company.
- Must have detail understanding of LIFO, FIFO, and WAC cost accounting methods.
- Requires ability to plan, analyze, prioritize, organize and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

Salary range $135K to $165K plus bonuses and benefits
