Position Title: Custodian, Bainbridge Library
FLSA Status: Part-Time (20 hours), Non-Exempt

Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 4 hours each night between the hours of 9 PM and 9 AM.

Position Summary: Keeps buildings clean and orderly. Performs heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, glass, windows and removing rubbish and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patrons and staff. Follows a daily, weekly, monthly schedule.

- Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
- Dusts and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
- Moves chairs to reach corners and crevices of covered parts of the room, places furniture back in correct placement.
- Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.
- Sanitizes all surfaces.
- Cleans and replenishes stock in restrooms
- Sweeps, mops and vacuums floors, shampoos carpet on a yearly basis
- Dusts all hard surfaces
- Cleans glass doors inside and outside
- Washes walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items
- Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
- Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Characteristics
- Good verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills required. (E-mail and word processing)
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Safely observe all PERRP procedures.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, stretch, walk, crawl, and/ or kneel to perform essential job functions.
- Coordination along with manual dexterity and proper lifting methods
- Ability to lift and maneuver 50lb boxes and bags of materials.
- Ability to work from step and extension ladders of varying heights.
- Ability to operate objects, tools or controls-including computers, phones, office equipment.
- Competence in completing tasks that involve reading or visual inspection, with or without visual aids.
