Family Law Associate Attorney

Seeking 1.5-3 year Family Law Associate Attorney

We are a small family law firm looking to bring on a full-time Associate Attorney with 1.5 to 3 years of CA family law experience. Must be licensed in CA and in good standing. Must live in the San Diego County area. This is a much different role than a demanding, grinding associate position at a large firm. Your position will be 95% remote, you will be required to come into the office only for pre-scheduled client meetings, any in-person consultations, and the occasional case review meeting/lunch (around 1-2 times per month) with the managing attorney and paralegal. You will be required to appear in-person in court as needed. Our main office is in North County area, though we may open satellite offices elsewhere in the County (by appointment only). You will primarily be working from firm-provided computer and business printer/scanner from your home office or other suitable private working space. We utilize a cloud-based system for digital files. You will be largely your own boss, so long as billables are met, clients are content, and you keep up with your cases and all appearances/deadlines.

We have a very collaborative working environment. You will work closely with the managing attorney and paralegal on dividing up work and completing tasks. We handle all aspects of Family Law and the Family Code, including divorce, child custody, support, propounding and responding to discovery, preparation of financial disclosures, property division, enforcement, drafting MSAs, and post-judgment motions. Initially, you will be assigned case work for pre-existing clients and handling Family Resolution Conference hearings and preparing for and attending Request for Order hearings. Trial experience is a plus but not initially required. You will progressively handle your own caseload as we bring on new clients.

You must also be able to build trust and rapport with clients. You will not expected to bill or work after business hours or weekends. Billable requirements are very reasonable.
