This position collaborates closely with clinical teams, coding professionals, and administrative staff to ensure complete, accurate, and timely health information management throughout the patient care process.
This position is on site in Los Angeles, California for the first 90 days and may offer a hybrid schedule after that. It is preferred that position be on site full time.

Requirements
Responsibilities
- Review and manage patient medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate and monitor the release of health information while protecting patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Support case management processes by ensuring health records are properly organized for utilization review, care coordination, billing, and audits.
- Act as a liaison between clinical teams, coding/billing staff, and external reviewers to resolve discrepancies and facilitate timely information flow.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to health information management.
- Conduct audits of health records and provide education to staff regarding documentation best practices.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory updates, and healthcare information technology systems.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and workflows.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or a related field.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in health information management or medical records, preferably within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology, and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, or Meditech) is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
