POSITION SUMMARY : The Local Driver will have a valid Class A CDL. This person will have a positive attitude, be willing to work as a strong team member, be a dependable and professional team leader, and be neat in appearance.
REPORTS TO : Fleet Manager, Traffic Manager, or Operations Manager
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Always utilizes defensive driving techniques and follows traffic laws
- Maintains logs and records according to regulations as required
- Performs deliveries, pickups, loading and unloading when needed
- Submits to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations
- Keeps medical certificate up to date
- Keeps commercial driver license up to date
- Operates company equipment in accordance with established safety procedures
- Superb communication
- Perform timely deliveries for customers
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers
- Keeps a clean vehicle
- Inspect trucks and record issues
- Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
- Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position.
- Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.
