Gecko Enterprises LLC is a small family business operating out of Glendale, AZ since 1997. We specialize in residential, wet utilities, dry utilities, and construction plumbing throughout greater Phoenix, Maricopa County, and beyond for tract homes, luxury custom residential homes, occasional commercial projects, and rare service calls.
Position Overview:
You will be responsible for assisting with excavation, trenching, and general labor duties to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility systems.
Priority for those who also know how to lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This position performs any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Cut pipes to required lengths
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
- Install or repair sanitary or stormwater, sewer, and consumable water structures or pipe systems
- Layout pipe routes, following specs or blueprints
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
- Perform manual labor such as shovel/broom work, hand digging, trenching, pulling and removing material, job site clean-up and various tasks associated with utility construction. Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations
- Knowledgeable in Blue Stake markings
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Excavation and Trenching: Assist with excavation and trenching work to access utility lines, following instructions and using appropriate tools and equipment. Ensure proper depth and width of trenches according to project requirements.
- Utility System Installation: Support the installation of water mains, sewer lines, storm drains, electrical, communication, gas sleeve, and other utility systems by assisting with the positioning and placement of pipes, fittings, and related materials.
- Backfilling and Compaction: Assist in backfilling excavated areas after utility system installations or repairs, using proper compaction techniques to ensure stability and compliance with project specifications.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- General Labor: Perform various general labor tasks on construction sites, including but not limited to cleaning, organizing tools and equipment, clearing debris, and assisting other team members as directed.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies at all times. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any safety concerns to superintendents.
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to supervisors/company mechanic for repair or replacement.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including completed tasks, hours worked, and materials used. Provide timely reports to supervisors as required.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other team members, such as operators and superintendents, to coordinate work activities and ensure efficient project progression. Communicate effectively to receive instructions and convey information.
- Continuous Learning: Seek opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement. Learn and follow industry best practices and safety guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 year of construction pipe laying or laborer experience required
- General knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision
- Must be a team player and be willing to help out wherever is needed for the success of the project
- Safety first mindset, MUST stop work if something is unsafe
- Reliable transportation and work schedule flexibility
- Ability to get the job done with minimal supervision
- MUST be reliable and dependable
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work shift
- Must be able to do physical labor and other strenuous physical task
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
