We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Controller with a CPA designation and restaurant industry experience to manage the financial operations of a growing, fast-paced restaurant organization. Based in Garden City, NY, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and financial management, with a proven track record in overseeing finances within the restaurant industry.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Management : Oversee all aspects of financial management, including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
- Budgeting & Forecasting : Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor financial performance and provide insights on variances from budgeted goals.
- Cash Flow Management : Maintain oversight of cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations. Prepare and manage cash flow projections and ensure all financial obligations are met in a timely manner.
- Accounting Systems & Internal Controls : Implement and maintain efficient accounting systems and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and prevent fraud or errors.
- Compliance & Tax Reporting : Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and tax laws. Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring all deadlines are met and regulations are followed.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting : Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.
- Audit Coordination : Manage the preparation for internal and external audits. Work closely with auditors to provide necessary documents and ensure compliance with auditing standards.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring that staff are well-trained, efficient, and performing their duties effectively. Provide leadership and support to team members.
- Cost Control & Profitability : Analyze operational costs, identify inefficiencies, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and reduce expenses. Work with operations and senior leadership to implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Financial Strategy : Contribute to the development of long-term financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals. Support business growth initiatives through financial planning and analysis.
