BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for securing and releasing credit union collateral, randomly auditing loan and deposit accounts and handling exception documents that require correction by credit union employees. Proactively manages and safeguards credit union collateral assets to ensure financial protection and prevent monetary loss to the member and / or credit union by these actions.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Processes titles for vehicles purchased by members to include data verification and review for compliance with applicable title regulations.
Confirms negotiability of title document, quality checks and completes required documents for filing on titles or other loan security. Sends to appropriate state agencies for recording in a timely manner.
Interacts with members, lending staff, dealers and representatives of regulatory agencies in resolving title issues, including missing, incomplete, and incorrect title paperwork. Completes follow-ups to ensure filing of security and correction of exceptions for both direct and indirect deals so as to ensure receipt of titles in a timely and accurate manner.
Communicates with various state agencies, financial institutions, insurance companies, titling agencies and other outside parties to determine fees, filing procedures, file for duplicate titles and resolve title issues.
Guides lending personnel with questions concerning title procedures and guidelines, and researches and provides fees required by each recording state and county.
Conducts periodic training sessions for lending personnel on title work and basic audit function of loan and deposit accounts.
Releases liens and relinquishes titles in accordance with regulatory requirements in order to avoid possible litigation and monetary loss.
Surrenders titles to out-of-State Department of Motor Vehicles for registering and titling. Creates follow-ups in order to monitor receipt of replacement title reflecting GECU as lienholder.
Coordinates the delivery and pick-up of Texas and New Mexico title work.
Ensures all title work sent to titling agencies has been processed and forwards vehicle plates and registration stickers to members.
Researches and resolves outstanding title perfecting and releasing issues reported by 3rd party collateral management vendor.
Stays abreast of lien perfecting laws and policy changes made by local and out-of-state title agencies and implements necessary changes.
Provides notary services.
Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Manages the follow up process for credit union documents with errors, to include, initial notification to staff. Creates and sends follow ups and spreadsheet updates.
Randomly audits loan and deposit accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance to established credit union guidelines and procedures.
Audits all business deposit account paperwork and forwards for imaging.
Maintains filing fee general ledger, posts check disbursements and JV transfers required for title transactions, processes member refunds and coordinates price adjustments as needed.
Other duties assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
