Job Title: Residential Mortgage Originator
Reports To: VP of Mortgage
Job Summary: Residential loan origination is the process of preparing the loan documents to match the requirements of both the applicants’ needs with the Association’s loan programs. This position works out of both the Westvale and Manlius Branch locations.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
· Interview potential loan customers to determine which loan program they would qualify for
· Complete loan applications for residential loans. Obtain all supportive documents.
· Analyze information regarding the applicants income, assets, investments, debts, and credit reports.
· Process originated loan files
· Prepare accurate and timely three day disclosures (Truth in Lending, Good Faith Estimate, 1003 Application)
· Monitors and is responsible for communication from application to closing to all parties that need to remain informed.
· Must comply with requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act
· Maintains confidentiality to protect the customer and the financial institution.
· Must have excellent people skills for working and interacting with customers, fellow employees and real estate professionals
· Attends seminars and meetings when requested
· Maintains a professional image and adheres to standards consistent with company policy and procedures
· Promote to customer’s Geddes Federal Loan products and cross sell products from other departments
· Develop and maintain client referral relationships
· Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements:
· Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) number
· Must have or develop working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
· Must have full knowledge of the Association loan programs and the ability to present options to customers
· Must possess motivation and maturity to perform duties with minimal supervision
· Must possess a high degree of integrity and personal character
· Must be able to multi task in a fast paced environment with accuracy
· Must be able to take loan applications in person, by telephone, by mail or electronically
· Ability to successfully complete training with LOS as needed
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· 2 years using Microsoft Office
· Experience with LOS systems a plus, but not required
· Minimum 2 years of experience in financial institutions or related fields
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
· Lifting up to 15 lbs at a time
