Key Responsibilities
The Technical Writing Intern Will
- Write and edit project/program documentation such as requirements, management plans, and design documents.
- Write and edit technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals, and procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.
- Meet with subject matter experts (SMEs) such as engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes.
- Work with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
- Gather feedback from SMEs and Senior Technical Writers to improve technical documents.
- Some education in Technical Writing, English, or related field of study
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly grasp complex topics and present technical information in clear, concise text
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro
- Experience in prioritizing and understanding the lifecycle of documentation from pre-release through on-going maintenance.
- Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
- Must be capable of getting a Secret Clearance.
