What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Driver position at Gehl Food & Beverage?
Job Responsibilities
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner that complies with all Gehl Foods, government, and other regulatory expectations.
- Effectively communicate with other Gehl Foods team members, external business partners, and others as needed to meet the expectations of customers.
- Responsible for inspecting equipment to ensure it is safe and meets all Gehl Foods, DOT, and other requirements.
- Maintain accurate work logs, accident reports, inspections, shipping paperwork, and other documentation.
- Safely load and unload materials in various conditions while properly securing all loads in order to avoid personal injury, equipment, or property damage.
- Responsible for ensuring trailer is properly loaded from a weight and security standpoint.
- Ensure that required competencies to carry out these job functions affecting product safety and quality are met in accordance with GMP requirements, Quality Policy, and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard.
- Verify trailer seals, glad hand locks, dock restraints, jack stands, and other devices are properly used when required.
- Work overtime on weekends and other shifts as needed to balance workload of team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School or Equivalency Diploma
- Maintain a valid and legal Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) in the State of Wisconsin
- Maintain a valid Class H Hazmat endorsement
- Ability to prioritize, communicate, and a multi-task in a fast-paced production and shipping environment
- Clear driving record, with no reports of accidents or reportable incidents in the past 3 years
- 5 years of commercial driving experience
- Ability to read, write and take oral instruction in the English Language
- Ability to successfully compete basic math and problem solving
- Ability to work a variety of hours and shifts in order to meet the needs of the department and customer base
- Ability to safely drive in a variety of weather conditions and industrial environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintain Tanker Endorsement
- Have the physical ability to frequently lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, reach overhead, climb, squat/bend/kneel, stand, move about, and regularly sit
