What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Support/Service Technician position at Gehring Underground, Inc.?
Job Summary
We are an underground utility contractor that is currently interviewing candidates for a Fleet Support & Service position. Our sizeable fleet contains a large number of both gasoline and diesel trucks (mainly Ford and International). We also have a variety of equipment used on a daily basis such as mini excavator, directional drills, skid steers, and trenchers (mainly Kubota and Vermeer). The main purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all trucks, trailers, and equipment in the fleet while working in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, test, adjust, and repair systems in the fleet.
- Examine, test drive, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment.
- Perform required repairs and replace defective parts.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance service according to manufacturer specifications.
- May respond to road/service calls.
- Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance.
- May perform other general garage duties as needed.
- Maintain good hygiene, attendance, and practice good housekeeping while at work.
Experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of brake systems and air brake systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair truck and brake light issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repairs problems of both general and advanced nature.
- Ability to perform tasks that may require heavy physical effort on occasion, and possibly in inclement weather.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical/electrical systems, and maintenance.
- Ability to work in a safe, efficient manner.
- Must posses own general tools with any required specialized equipment being provided.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Two years in a setting performing the duties listed above.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid drivers license and ability to be insured by Gehring Underground, Inc.
- Class A CDL (not required at hire but is a condition of employment to enroll in our program to obtain CDL: more details will be provided during the interview process).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
