Job Summary
Gehring Underground, Inc. is has been in business for 30 years and is growing! We are seeking a couple candidates to join our team and work out of our location in New Albany, IN. A Class a CDL is preferred and those holding a Class A CDL would start at the higher end of the pay scale included in the posting. An applicant who does not hold their Class A CDL should be willing to obtain it as a condition of employment utilizing the training tuition reimbursement program the company offers. Previous experience in underground utility work and directional drilling is preferred, however a strong emphasis is placed on training from within for new team members who have a desire to learn. Essential Job Duties
- Successfully locate existing utilities via hand-digging or by operating a hydro-vac.
- Pull and place wire into conduit or open trenches per customer specifications.
- Safely learn operate and maintain all company-owned vehicles/machinery, equipment, and tools required for the job.
- Safely and successfully install electric cable into a meter base, pedestal, or transformer.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with company Health & Safety procedures and posses the ability to communicate and address any situation that might be unsafe.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a utility or maintenance role is a plus not not required.
- A Class a CDL is preferred or the desire to obtain one as a condition of employment through company offered training.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform a variety of physical tasks as needed during a shift.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
