Competitive Intelligence Director - Property & Casualty Insurance

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Competitive Intelligence Director to lead our competitive intelligence program and provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This role will be instrumental in shaping our market strategy, product development, and sales efforts.
Job Summary:
The Competitive Intelligence Director will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive competitive intelligence strategy focused on identifying, analyzing, and disseminating critical information about competitors, market trends, and emerging technologies within the P&C insurance landscape. This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Competitive Intelligence Strategy: Design and implement a robust competitive intelligence program, including defining key intelligence topics, establishing data collection methods, and developing reporting frameworks.
Data Collection & Analysis: Utilize a variety of sources, including publicly available information, industry reports, conferences, and primary research, to gather and analyze competitive intelligence data.
Competitive Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of key competitors, including their products, pricing strategies, distribution channels, marketing efforts, financial performance, and technological advancements.
Market Research & Trend Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and customer needs to identify opportunities and threats.
Reporting & Dissemination: Prepare and deliver regular reports and presentations to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making.
Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, sales, and strategy, to ensure competitive insights are integrated into business processes.
Competitive Landscape Monitoring: Continuously monitor the competitive landscape and identify potential disruptions or opportunities.
Team Leadership & Development Mentor and develop competitive intelligence team members
* Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors providing competitive intelligence services.
- Budget Management: Manage the budget allocated to the competitive intelligence program.
- Stay Informed: Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging competitive intelligence tools and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, or strategic analysis, preferably within the P&C insurance industry.
- Deep understanding of the P&C insurance market, including products, distribution channels, and competitive dynamics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and identify key insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency in using competitive intelligence tools and databases.
- Experience with primary research methodologies.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ethical and professional standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with competitive intelligence software and platforms.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Membership in professional organizations related to competitive intelligence.
Location:
- This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week out of our Chicago, IL location.
