What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, SEO position at GEICO?
GEICO is seeking a Director, SEO. This individual will oversee GEICO’s end-to-end SEO strategy and implementation across the portfolio – developing, executing, and optimizing programs to drive profitable business growth. This role requires the agility to go hands on keyboard and manage complex campaign execution, while also pivoting to a strategic thought leadership to translate those actions back to senior executives.
Collaboration and confidence will be critical to the success of this role. Our marketing organization is rapidly evolving and integrating new functions – so it’s important you are comfortable with a high level of interoperability across various internal and external teams to produce solutions as well as developing new methods.
This role reports into the Sr. Director, Performance Marketing.
Our department’s hybrid model is 3 days in the office per week, with flexibility. Corporate offices are in Chevy Chase, MD; Manhattan, NY; Chicago, Illinois; Cleveland, OH
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategy for GEICO and individual lines of business, to increase organic search traffic, improve quote completion rates and grow efficiency in cost per new business metrics
- Scope and manage partner and tech resource budget across individual P&Ls
- Build a culture of high velocity testing and diligent measurement that will improve efficiency and efficacy, and generate scalable results
- Lead one direct report and a SEO agency
- Develop a KPI based learning agenda to assess SEO performance overtime
- Perform ad-hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual analyses pertaining to line of business performance, historical trend analysis, brand demand, and competitor insights.
- Derive data-drive insights to identify growth opportunities and content performance drivers across organic activity on YouTube, TikTok, Meta, Snap and Pinterest
- Drive continuous performance improvement through optimization of SEO tactics and dependencies
- Facilitate technical SEO audits of the website to improve UX, tagging/tracking, speed to quote and bind, and overall performance
- Responsible for website content strategy recommendations to maintain GEICO as a top search destination for insurance related queries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Creative, Product and Tech, to secure resources required for meeting SEO goals aligned with business performance objectives
- Stay updated with evolving SEO best practices and algorithm changes.
- Report into the Senior Director of Performance Marketing.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 8 years of experience in SEO and digital marketing.
- Performance marketing mindset to work toward goals and targets.
- Comprehensive understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking factors.
- Mastery of SEO tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, Moz, etc.
- Strong analytical skills for keyword research, data analysis, and performance tracking.
- Exceptional leadership and management capabilities to oversee SEO team and agencies.
- Expertise in content creation to improve content driven search traffic volumes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to adapt to evolving SEO trends and algorithm updates swiftly.

Annual Salary
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.

Salary : $131,200 - $229,600
