What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Onboarding position at GEICO?
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of a seamless and engaging onboarding and acclimation strategy that aligns new hires to the company vision, culture, and expectations, to equip them for success. The successful candidate will be innovative, operate with a sense of urgency, effectively manage a broad set of stakeholders, and demonstrate a track record for developing data informed and tech enabled solutions that prioritize the associate experience and organizational goals. The responsibilities will extend from pre-hire activities such as collaborating with key partners to optimize new hire technology set-up to developing acclimation frameworks and leadership expectations (e.g. 30/60/90 day plan) to drive a consistent new hire experience across the company.
This leadership role will be critical to ensuring new associates feel a strong connection to GEICO – our purpose and our impact - from day one. You will design a best-in-class structured approach to onboarding and acclimation that will accelerate and facilitate new hire engagement and performance.

Key responsibilities
- Modernize New Hire Onboarding Experience: Develop vision, strategy and roadmap for GEICO onboarding and acclimation
- Stay Current on Industry Trends: Keep up to date with advancements and conduct analysis to identify trends, opportunities to improve new hire onboarding experience.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business and functional leads as well as HR on key processes including pre-boarding activities, technology and laptop set-up, training, and orientation, to ensure alignment between solutions and organizational goals
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize analytics and feedback mechanisms to continuously measure and improve learning effectiveness, adjust programs, and demonstrate impact on key objectives – new hire engagement, performance, and retention.
- Create Scalable Solutions: Design onboarding and acclimation processes and solutions that are scalable and adaptable across various teams, locations, roles within the organization
- People Leadership: Sets goals, provides direction, and provides coaching and feedback to helps team members (direct/matrix) develop and achieve results.
- Strategic Transformation Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for transitioning from traditional onboarding approaches to a modern, associate experience centric model that enhances engagement and retention and accelerates new hire acclimation and impact, while ensuring buy-in from all levels of the organization to facilitate smooth transitions to new practices.
- Compliance Management: Keep abreast of legal requirements and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing and transforming modernizing new hire onboarding programs in dynamic large organizations
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to measure and enhance program effectiveness
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with ability to work cross functions and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Detail-oriented and able to maintain high levels of accuracy in documentation.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, onboarding processes, and employment laws.
- Creative and forward-thinking mindset
- Strong program management skills
- Demonstrate strong agility and bias for action
- Knowledge of HRIS and other commonly used onboarding software.
Preferred
- Experience with Workday and leveraging its capabilities to support new hire onboarding
- Experience in a dynamic organization in which contact center employees are a core component
Annual Salary
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
