Assemble, repair, align, and troubleshoot equipment and promote Geiger services and products through customer contact.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and promote Geiger’s core values (Continuous Improvement, Customer Focus, Personal Accountability, and Teamwork).
- Perform Precision overhauls of Pumps, Valves, Agitators, and other rotating equipment in house and at customer site.
- Install fluid process equipment at industrial customer sites. Includes installation of pumps, valves, piping modifications, and other process equipment.
- Install and perform service on wastewater equipment at customer sites. Includes installation and service of pumps, valves, piping, lift stations, mixers, clarifiers and other wastewater equipment.
- Perform precision laser alignment of pumps and motors, and other power transmission systems both in-house and at customer site.
- Perform new equipment build-ups. Mount pumps and motors to equipment base and perform alignment. Build automated valves systems.
- Install mechanical seals, couplings, V-belts, bearing seals, relief valves and other accessories both in house and at customer site.
- Troubleshoot fluid process equipment problems and prepare recommendations for repair or replacement.
- Assist customers during new equipment start-ups.
- Estimate hours required to complete work and determine whether repairs qualify for warranty consideration.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding service work, repair parts and pump operation.
- Determine level of expertise required to perform work; request assistance from engineering, electrical or other staff as needed to ensure safety and customer requirements are met.
- Work with Customer Service and Inside Sales Representatives to schedule service work.
- Accurately prepare required customer and Geiger documentation.
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on service equipment and tools.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
- Assist co-workers in acquiring new skills, expanding current knowledge and increasing their understanding of equipment utilized in systems automation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in a related field, three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience repairing fluid process equipment, including pumps and valves.
- Understands the interaction between the various parts of a system such as fluid power, mechanical, electrical/electronic and the interfacing required for operation.
- A positive, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
- An ability to handle a varied and fast-paced workload to meet customer requirements for projects.
- A well-organized and self-directed team player.
- A valid driver’s license.

- Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays. Participates in the after-hours on-call emergency service program per Geiger requirements.
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds.

- Experience installing fluid process equipment, including pumps, valves, piping and instrumentation
- Wastewater equipment experience is a plus.
