Job Overview:
The Parts Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of parts to customers and other dealership locations. This role requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to providing outstanding customer service. The driver also plays a critical role in maintaining the dealership's reputation for reliability and professionalism.
Candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screen and a motor vehicle record check.
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery Operations
o Load and secure parts in the delivery vehicle to prevent damage during transit.
o Deliver parts accurately and on time to customers, technicians, and other
dealerships.
o Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules while adhering to traffic laws and
safety regulations.
o Obtain customer signatures and complete delivery paperwork as required.
2. Customer Service
o Interact with customers professionally and courteously during deliveries.
o Address customer inquiries or concerns and escalate them to the parts department if necessary.
o Serve as a representative of the dealership, maintaining a friendly and professional
demeanor at all times.
3. Vehicle Maintenance
o Perform routine inspections of the delivery vehicle to ensure it is clean, well, maintained, and in good working condition.
o Report any vehicle issues or maintenance needs to the parts manager promptly.
4. Inventory Coordination
o Verify that all parts being delivered match the order specifications and are correctly labeled.
o Assist with picking parts from inventory and preparing orders for delivery.
o Return unused or incorrect parts to the dealership and ensure proper
documentation.
5. Safety and Compliance
o Adhere to all dealership and industry safety standards, including proper lifting
techniques and handling of heavy parts.
o Follow procedures for the safe transport of hazardous materials, if applicable.
o Maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with all DOT regulations, if required.
6. Administrative Duties
o Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage logs and delivery
receipts.
o Assist with inventory tracking and updates upon return to the dealership.
o Communicate delivery progress or delays to the parts department as needed.
Qualifications
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required for larger delivery vehicles.
o Previous experience in a delivery or courier role, preferably in the automotive or heavy-duty trucking industry.
o Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns.
o Basic knowledge of semi-truck parts is a plus but not required.
o Strong organizational and time-management skills.
o Ability to lift and carry heavy parts (up to 50 lbs.) safely.
o Forklift Certification Required upon completion of first 90 days of employment.
o Ability to hook up, disconnect, and pull a trailer as required for parts delivery.
Working Conditions
o Primarily operates out of the delivery vehicle with frequent loading and unloading of parts.
o May require exposure to various weather conditions during deliveries.
o Occasional interaction with customers and warehouse staff.
