GMC has set the national standard for care coordination among hospital leadership, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart failure, advanced practice, nursing, life support, emergency medicine, emergency medical services (EMS), care management, pharmacy and cardiac rehab teams.

Assists the physician with adult and pediatric (location specific) cardiac catheterizations including but not limited to the following procedures and techniques: transluminal coronary angioplasty and stenting, rotational atherectomy, temporary pacemaker insertion, pericardiocentesis, myocardial biopsy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, mechanical circulatory support (i.e. ECMO, Impella, Protek Duo), percutaneous valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve implantation/repair, peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table. Responsible for direct care of patient during procedure as well as management of hemostasis during and post procedure. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned laboratory.
- Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
- Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
- Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
- Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
- Assisting licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional cardiology procedures.
- Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table.
- Records, monitors, and assesses hemodynamic data collected during procedures.
- Maintaining intra-arterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Panning the procedure table during image production.
- Performing manual hemostasis during and after procedure
- Operates and ensures the quality control of hemodynamic recording devices, cardiac stimulator, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipment.
- Maintaining and removing peripherally inserted central catheters as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Initiates ACLS protocols as required for cardiac roles.
- Participates, as necessary, with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory.

- A bachelor’s degree in a health care related field will be accepted for this role in lieu of the specialty training degree, healthcare experience is preferred but not required if candidate has a healthcare related bachelor's degree.
- Applicants who hold the ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 6 months of hire (Geisinger Medical Center campus only)

Position Details:
- An associate’s degree in a healthcare related field will be accepted for this role in lieu of the specialty training program, but the candidate is required to have at least two years of healthcare experience in addition to their associate's degree.
- A bachelor’s degree in a health care related field will be accepted for this role in lieu of the specialty training degree, healthcare experience is preferred but not required if candidate has a healthcare related bachelor's degree.
- Applicants who hold the ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 6 months of hire (Geisinger Medical Center campus only)
- Shifts: Monday - Friday 7 or 7:30am start times.
- Must respond to GMC within 30 minutes for emergencies.
- On Call: 1-2 nights of on call per week and every fourth weekend; rotating holidays
