What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Life Playroom Coordinator position at Geisinger?
- Coordinates the playroom activity program as assigned; plans and implements group activities that are developmentally appropriate.
- Plans and facilitates playroom programs and special events that promote normal growth and development and optimal adjustment to hospitalization, treatment, illness and disability for pediatric inpatients and their families.
- Plans and implements a range of activities to meet the psychosocial and age related needs of patients and families.
- Schedules and post regular schedule of unit play program and activities.
- Seeks to involve all patients, as appropriate, in playroom activity program and facilitates patient inclusion in special events and visits.
- Interacts with patients, families, volunteers and staff to facilitate play, support learning, mastery and control through play and socialization.
- Plans and implements holiday activities and special events including Child Life Week, collaborating with other departments and hospital staff to ensure that activities are culturally and developmentally appropriate.
- Oversees toy and equipment cleaning of four playrooms and one outdoor play deck, keeping necessary records on the Child Life Department Toy Cleaning Log.
- Oversee safety and maintenance of activity areas, equipment and supplies in compliance with safety and infection control policies, completing Safety Checklist in collaboration with other Child
- Life Staff and volunteers.
Oversees all gaming equipment, keeping current records of inventory, general maintenance, distribution, cleaning, charging, replacing supplies, educating staff on use of equipment and coordinating with contracted service company.
Mentors and supports assigned playroom employees or volunteers.

Hours: Days/ 10-6:30 (Tuesday-Friday); 8-4:30 (Saturday)
