What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Medicine Residency Core Faculty position at Geisinger?
Geisinger Primary Care South Wilkes-Barre is the home of the Kistler Family Medicine Residency program, a three-year dedicated family medicine residency clinic. Provides preventive care for newborns to elderly patients. Our physicians also provide chronic disease management care for patients with diabetes, heart disease and lung disease, just to mention a few.
At the clinic you will experience:
- Nurse call center to assist with on-call workload
- Nurse coordinators support high needs patients
- Centralized prescription refill team
- Interdisciplinary team and quick access to specialty services
- Epic EMR – universal throughout Geisinger
In addition to treating all patient ages, the physician Core faculty member will:
- Teach, evaluate, and provide formative feedback to residents.
- Support the program leadership in developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum, mentoring residents, and assessing residents’ progress.
- Participate in non-clinical activities related to resident education and program administration. Examples of these nonclinical activities include, but are not limited to, interviewing and selecting resident applicants, providing didactic instruction, mentoring residents, simulation exercises, completing the annual ACGME Faculty Survey, and participating on the program’s Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, and other GME committees.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least three years of clinical experience and be American Boards of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Osteopathic Boards of Family Medicine (AOBFM) board certified. Prior teaching experience (residents and/or students) is preferred.
