DESCRIPTIONS: Geisinger Medical Laboratories is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our team. As an MLS, you will be responsible for performing and reporting various analyses from multiple specimen sources, ensuring the highest level of patient care and maximizing patient satisfaction.
Job Duties
Your key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining expected productivity levels.
- Managing multiple work processes efficiently.
- Completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Handling specimens properly.
- Confirming identification and specimen suitability.
- Using appropriate accessioning procedures.
- Recognizing discrepancies on patient orders.
- Resolving and reporting problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Performing and recording instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Replenishing reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
- Following established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual as appropriate.
- Navigating and accessing multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
- Assisting in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Participating in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
You will work in a clinical environment and be accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Education Qualification and Details
To be successful in this role, you must have one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program;
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification;
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory;
