Phlebotomist Job Summary
A Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing various tasks to provide high-quality specimens for testing and accurate information. They can independently perform venipunctures and skin punctures on patients of all ages.
Job Duties
- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.
- Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements.
- Perform accessioning procedures accurately to ensure specimen identification.
- Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability.
- Resolve or refer discrepancies as necessary.
- Perform testing and record Point of Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
- FOLLOW established reporting procedures.
- Record and report problems and solutions.
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications.
Requirements
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), OR Graduate of NAACLS approved Phlebotomy program, OR one year of related experience.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
