Job Summary
Geisinger's Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to collaborate with our growing practice at Geisinger Hazleton in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties
- Collaborate with physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the cardiology service.
- Demonstrate autonomy through patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Manage and assist in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs, and outreach cardiology clinics.
- Order testing as deemed necessary and remain proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner.
The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with physicians and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants, and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
