What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Aide position at Geisinger?
- Assists with therapist's duties to carry out multidisciplinary plan of care for each patient.
- Assists patients of all ages with non-treatment aspects of activities of daily living, ambulation, and group exercise.
- Assists with therapeutic modality set up, disassembly, and attends to the personal needs of the patient.
- Recognizes and reports to the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist changes in patient's condition.
- Works effectively with other rehab assistants and patient care staff to transport Acute Care and Rehab patients to scheduled appointments.
- Works with therapists to change the schedule as necessary to meet patients' needs.
- Under the direction of the department supervisor and other therapists, performs a variety of non-patient care activities that directly supports efficient department operations, such as unlocking and locking department cabinets daily.
- Inventory, stocks and orders supplies.
- Obtains daily census.
- Obtains Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Language Pathologist order slips throughout the day.
- Assists in whirlpool filling and cleaning when needed.
- Cleans therapy area during and at the end of workday.
- Puts equipment away; cleans items touched by patient hands daily.
- Wipes down equipment carts; puts linens in receptacle.
- Prepares linens for pick-up.
- Helps therapists in cleaning up spills, etc.
- Maintains temperature of refrigerator, hydrocollator, cold pack, and paraffin unit.
- Assists with photocopying of in-services, exercise forms, etc.
- Answers phone and assists front desk staff with patient check in.
- Responsible for actively participating in patient safety improvement and management program.
