Responsibilities:
- Assesses patients' respiratory care needs based on various data
- Performs and documents thorough patient assessments
- Correctly performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities, including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and assists with routine care and maintenance of artificial airways
- Initiates and manages conventional and high frequency mechanical ventilators according to established protocol
- Assists in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients
- Sets up and manages non-invasive monitoring
- Follows appropriate insurance guidelines for discharge planning and DME supplies
- Adheres to regulatory requirements and safety standards
- Assists the medical team in fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures
- Assists the medical team with invasive monitoring lines and hemodynamic measurements and calculations
- Functions as a preceptor for orientees and students in their clinical rotation
Education and Certifications:
Graduate from Specialty Training Program - Required; Registered Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); Certified Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
