What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety and Industrial Hygiene Coordinator position at Geisinger?
- Serves as lead for Safety and Industrial Hygiene inspections at assigned sites.
- Develops, implements, and maintains the building safety inspection data base and effectively follows up with clinic operations personal to ensure identified corrective action items or needs are completed in a timely manner and employee or patient risk is minimized.
- Assists with Construction Compliance at Clinics as needed.
- Conducts Hazard Surveillance Rounds at assigned locations.
- Assists with Emergency Management where appropriate or as requested by Safety Director.
- Assists with Employee Complaints where appropriate.
- Oversees Hazard Waste, Pharmaceutical Wastes, and Sharps or Bio Hazard Coordination.
- Assists with Respiratory Protection Program, OSHA, DEP, or Joint Commission inspections, Ergonomics Compliance, compliance projects, and maintaining Chemical Inventory.
- Assists with Material Safety Data Sheet maintenance, Confined Space, Lockout, and Tagout or other key OSHA standards for compliance training.
- Serves as laboratory chemical hygiene officer and liaison.
- Maintains record keeping process with Risk Console program and ensures all buildings are being inspected as needed or requested by insurance or loss drivers.
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
