What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Security- Full Time/ Rotation position at Geisinger?
- Supervises and directs assigned Security personnel, evaluates employee performance, interviews applicants, makes recommendations to supervisor regarding hiring, firing, promotions, and disciplinary actions, coordinates with Human Resources, as required, verifies payroll time sheets, approves requests for leisure and other time off.
- Prepares work schedules.
- Conducts regular inspections of property and fire, safety and security equipment.
- Completes detailed reports on incidents, thefts, losses.
- Prepares monthly and annual security reports.
- Assures all required reports of shift personnel are completed including service tracking logs.
- Evaluates new equipment and techniques in the Security field.
- Assists Manager in the preparation of the departmental budget.
- Assists in orientation of new employees and students in fire, safety and security policies.
- Oversees control and supervision of parking areas; maintains records of traffic and parking violations.
- Conducts meetings with assigned personnel to communicate information and provide a forum for communication exchange.
- Informs Manager of any and all situations that directly or indirectly affect the safety and security of the assigned location.
- Controls assignments of locks and lockers to employees; maintains records of assignments.
- Ensures that the patient safety improvement and management program will be given high priority and will support the program.
- Ensures that sufficient time is available for staff participation in patient safety activities at both the department and organizational level.
- Ensures that staff attend all required patient and organizational safety education programs.
- Operates security technology equipment including; personal computers, CCTV systems, fire alarm system, access control systems, security alarm systems, and radios.
- Performs hazardous material response services in accordance with training, policy and equipment capabilities.
- Performs security and emergency services related to site emergency management plans.
- Trains in relation to Hospital Emergency Incident Command System (HEICS) job roles.
- Performs set up duties related to Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
- Coordinates and performs prisoner escort duties consistent with protocol.
Responds to emergencies, fire alarms, hazardous material incidents. Deals with conflict, confrontation, and stressful situations on a routine basis. Performs both foot patrol and vehicle patrol of facilities and grounds. Must be physically able to provide the essential services of the position. Qualifications:
The following requirements are for employees at GLH only:
- Required to successfully complete or have current Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Certification (EMSVO) approved by the PA DoH within 90 days of hire date. Required to maintain certification while employed as a Security Officer.
- Drive ambulance to and from the hospital to helipad to transport flight crews and patients as necessary. This will not involve any direct patient care, except to assist in lifting/moving a patient as necessary into or out of the ambulance and helicopter.
- Assure the vehicle is ready for use, including being fueled, and report any vehicle operational issues to the Security Supervisor or Manager.
