Job Summary
Primary duties will be general mechanical/electrical maintenance work, to include such activities as pump and gearbox repairs, welding and mechanical fabrication, pipefitting, and plumbing, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and repair, calibrating instrumentation, installing, and programming PLCs, installing wiring systems per National Electrical Code, vehicle repair, lubrication, general equipment repairs and miscellaneous as assigned. Support the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 management systems and the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy as appropriate in the function.
Essential Functions
- Work safely and effectively in a team environment.
- Assist in the identification and maintenance of an effective spare parts program
- Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and certification/calibration of production equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls
- Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring. Responsible for installation of 480V, 220V,110V, and 24V electrical systems throughout facility.
- Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Assists with the verification of dimensions and alignment of equipment with measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, etc.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs targeted at personal, team and overall operations improvement. Maintain certification associated with job classification
- Perform documentation requirements associated with work tasks as required by procedures as directed by management
- Be willing to work extended hours as needed to support personnel and production requirements
- Assists Engineers and project leaders as directed
- Carry out all other jobs and duties as assigned
- Participate in company GOBEST & Operational Excellence initiatives.

Minimum Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Vocational or trade school training desirable or equivalent in experience
Minimum Work Experience:
- At least three (3) years maintenance experience and two (2) years of electrician experience
- Ability to perform complex installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and performance improvement tasks
- Effective working knowledge of the following:
- Mechanical systems-power transmissions, gear boxes, bearings pumps, brakes, clutches, gears, pulleys, drives, valves, etc.
- Pneumatic and electrical measurement and control systems / components including PLCs
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting/testing of control devices
- Familiar with NEC requirements
- Capable of reading drawings, capable of making small work sketches, knowledge in pumps and vehicle repair, capable of oxy/acetylene, arc and heliarc welding, capable of performing electrical tasks such as, but not limited to troubleshooting MCCs, electrical motors, PLCs and instrumentation
- Individual will be required to demonstrate these abilities and pass the maintenance test and pass the electrical test
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Required to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment as necessary of assigned tasks
- The work schedule will be normal shift rotation (4 days on 4 days off)
