Job Summary
GELITA USA is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Process Engineer Intern in our Sioux City, Iowa location. The Process Engineer Intern is responsible for support of production trials, troubleshooting and process control & monitoring for the facility. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the collection, trending, and analysis of process information for the purpose of process control and process improvement. Monitor employees in a gelatin manufacturing environment applying GMP and HAACP principles. Monitors production facilities ensuring production targets and scheduling is met. Recommends improvements in production methods, operating procedures, and working conditions. Support the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 management systems and the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy as appropriate in the function.
Essential Functions
- Provide technical and engineering oversight and support to the Production/Technology group.
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas.
- Develops and maintains all production & quality models.
- Monitor process changes to stay current with updates to the production process.
- Develop and utilize techniques for process analysis, process trending, and process data collection
- Enforce Company policies and procedures while maintaining equipment and improving safety standards in the plant.
- Maintain a clean department by championing good sanitation, housekeeping and GMP standards.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all ISO standards.
- Monitors training needs for self and department, making recommendations for attendance at those training functions that appear beneficial for department members. Develop training for specific processed within the production department.
- Take a pro-active stance towards safety, achieve annual plant safety targets.
- Maintain effective, professional, and harmonious working environment.
- Support Engineering and Technical Services departments on process development projects.
- Provide back-up responsibilities for Plant Process Engineer and General Supervisor
- Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Candidate should:
- Be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline. Chemical, Mechanical or Food Engineering preferred.
- Have high attention to detail with excellent skills in communication, organization, managing time, budgets, projects and resources.
- Have an understanding of statistics and statistics software for data processing (stat graphics, statistical process control, etc.)
- Have the ability to maintain constructive relations with the entire workforce is extremely important.
- Be able to design and carry out, report on, and interpret results of experimentation at a professional level.
