Job Summary
GELITA USA is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Production Operator in our Sergeant Bluff, Iowa location.
Please note: this position will work 12 hour rotating shifts (days to nights, 4 days on / 4 days off).
GELITA is a global business that primarily produces gelatin and collagen peptides for use in the food, pharmaceutical, and health & nutrition industries. GELITA USA is the industry's largest single site gelatin and collagen protein manufacturer in the world.
Essential Functions of a Production Operator
A Production Operator will work with all colleagues to make a quality product efficiently. Depending on the position place within the plant, a new operator may be responsible to perform any of the following functions:
- Maintain raw material supplies
- Raw material pretreatment
- Wash / Sour process
- Filter preparation and operation
- Operating the ion exchange system
- Thin liquor concentrator and thick liquor evaporator
- Pasteurization
- Product drying and packaging
- Warehousing
All Production Operators are required to be able to perform the following functions:
- Understanding and adhering to all safety procedures and policies.
- Manufacturing products according to established procedures to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Monitoring multiple production processes utilizing computer systems to input and record data as necessary.
- Communicate with production, maintenance, Management, to continually improve facility processes and promote a collaborative team environment.
- Operating equipment throughout facility such as pumps, valves, tanks, evaporators, dryers, packing, palletizers, forklifts, etc.
- Performing sanitation and CIP activities.
- Product sampling and testing.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Production Operator Requirements
A High School diploma or GED are REQUIRED
The preferred candidate for Production Operator will have:
- Minimum of THREE years of production processing experience with preference given to those with continuous flow production experience.
- Ability to perform physical job duties including lifting over 50lbs.
- Ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays).
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written).
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).
- Good math skills, a mechanical aptitude, and have good trouble shooting skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computers with the ability to quickly learn in house programs and systems.
