What are the responsibilities and job description for the Larval Control Technician position at Gem County Mosquito Abatement?
Job Summary: Perform seasonal routine field inspection. Work to control mosquitoes by identifying and treating larval habitats. Operate atvs safely and responsibly on public roads and private property. Has ability to navigate through the GPS system, to document product use and inspection activity. Has integrity and character to maintain a consistent work ethic. Effective communication skills to address issues brought to attention from constituents. Work with partner to complete assigned section.
Duties:
- Perform larvicide and/or adulticide control work
- Follow all labels accurately.
- Drives spray truck and operate spray equipment, as required
- Performs maintenance and service of equipment, as required
- Show up early for shifts to get prepared for day.
- Responsible to document all product use, and handle accordingly
Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid Idaho Driver’s License
· Public Health Certification (willingness and ability to acquire during training period).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with mosquito breeding habitats
- Ability to identify characteristics of the primary nuisance mosquitoes, make inspections and ascertain facts through investigations
- Ability to prepare simple reports
- Ability to perform simple mechanical repairs
- Ability to operate a spray vehicle
- Ability to safely drive truck with trailer and 4-wheeler
- Ability to wear required safety equipment such as rubber boots, rubber gloves, leather gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, and vehicle seat belt

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
