GEM is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Inspection Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems in various commercial, industrial, and residential settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire safety regulations, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and compliance of all fire protection systems. You may travel within the RI, MA, and CT areas. This role is full time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and suppression systems.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire safety regulations.
- Record inspection findings, provide detailed reports, and notify clients of any repairs or improvements needed.
- Perform routine maintenance on fire protection equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and replacing worn or faulty components.
- Troubleshoot and repair sprinkler systems and suppression systems as needed.
- Interact with clients to explain inspection results, maintenance procedures, and any corrective actions needed.
- Offer recommendations for system upgrades or improvements based on inspection findings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and service history.
- Submit detailed reports to management and clients outlining any issues found and corrective actions taken.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all work meets fire safety standards and complies with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes, OSHA regulations, and other relevant industry standards.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in fire safety regulations and implement necessary changes to procedures and practices.
Emergency Response Support:
- Assist in emergency response drills and provide technical support during fire-related incidents if required.
Qualifications:
- Active RI or MA Fire Protection Journeyman License
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or technical certification preferred).
- Knowledge of NFPA 13 and 25 standards, fire protection codes, and regulations.
- Certification in fire protection (e.g., NICET, Fire Inspector, Manufacturer CPVC, is preferred).
- Fire extinguisher license is preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.
- Individual must possess a valid Driver's license and have a clean driving record
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
- May require occasional overtime or weekend work, especially during peak inspection periods.
